Children’s Registered Manager

Launch & Lead a Brand-New Children’s Home

  • Cinderford, Gloucestershire
  • £45,000 – £55,000 per annum (with clear progression to higher earnings)
  • Full-time | Permanent | Senior Leadership Role
  • Home Opening: February 2026

This Isn’t Just a Management Role.

It’s the chance to build a home that truly changes lives.

Blue Heart is opening a brand-new children’s residential home in Cinderford, and we are seeking a Children’s Registered Manager to lead it from the very beginning.

This role is for a leader who wants ownership, influence, and the freedom to do things properly — not firefighting, not inheriting broken cultures, and not ticking boxes.

You will shape the home’s values, build your own team, and create a calm, therapeutic, trauma-informed environment where young people with complex needs can finally feel safe, understood, and supported to move forward.

Why This Role Is Different

Most Registered Manager roles ask you to fix problems.

This one lets you prevent them.

You will:

  • Open a brand-new, well-resourced home from the ground up
  • Build and lead your own team from day one
  • Embed a stable, therapeutic culture — not reactive care
  • Work alongside experienced senior leaders and clinical professionals
  • Be trusted as a senior leader, not micromanaged

The Role – Your Impact

As the Children’s Registered Manager, you will have full autonomy and accountability for:

  • Registering, launching, and leading the home
  • Creating a safe, nurturing, and structured environment for young people
  • Recruiting, developing, and retaining a high-quality residential team
  • Ensuring outstanding safeguarding and regulatory compliance
  • Embedding trauma-informed, relationship-based practice throughout the service
  • Building strong relationships with local authorities and partner professionals
  • Leading inspections with confidence and consistency
  • Supporting the growth of Blue Heart Residential, with the opportunity to oversee multiple homes as the organisation expands

What We’re Offering You

We recognise that outstanding Registered Managers are rare — and we invest accordingly.

  • Clear progression to increased salary as additional homes are added under your oversight
  • The opportunity to open and shape a home from scratch
  • Strong senior leadership and clinical support
  • Real autonomy and trust — your professional judgement matters
  • Comprehensive induction and advanced leadership CPD
  • Long-term career progression within a growing organisation
  • A values-led organisation that prioritises quality over occupancy

Who We’re Looking For

This role isn’t for everyone — and that’s intentional.

You’ll be:

  • An experienced leader within children’s residential care
  • Calm, emotionally intelligent, and confident under pressure
  • Passionate about trauma-informed and therapeutic practice
  • Strong enough to lead, supportive enough to inspire
  • Motivated by quality, outcomes, and culture

Essential Requirements

  • Experience in children’s residential care
  • Previous Registered Manager or Deputy Manager experience
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and regulatory frameworks
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and retain teams
  • Resilience, professionalism, and integrity

Desirable

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management (or working towards)
  • Experience supporting young people with complex or challenging behaviour
  • Experience opening or developing children’s homes
