Head of Operations / Registered Manager

As Head of Operations, I lead the operational delivery and development of Blue Heart Care Group’s services across Wales and England, working across children’s residential care, domiciliary care and recruitment. My role covers everything from quality, governance and safeguarding to service development, workforce and supporting our managers and teams. However, at the centre of everything I do is a very simple principle – the people we support must remain at the heart of every decision we make.

My career has spanned health and social care, with a background in nursing alongside extensive experience in complex care, safeguarding, service management and operational leadership. Working across different areas of care has really shaped how I approach my role. I strongly believe that person-centred care has to be more than something written in a care plan. For me, it means genuinely listening to people, making sure their voice is heard and building support around the individual rather than expecting the individual to fit the service.

I’m equally passionate about the people delivering that care. I’ve always believed that if we don’t look after, value and invest in our staff, we can’t expect them to give their very best to the people they support. Creating an inclusive workplace where people feel supported and have the opportunity to develop is incredibly important to me, and I’m particularly proud that Blue Heart has recently achieved Disability Confident Leader status.

I joined Blue Heart because I wanted to be somewhere I could genuinely help shape and develop services as the organisation grows. What I enjoy most about my role is the variety and the opportunity to challenge things, solve problems and make improvements that actually mean something. No two days are ever quite the same, but whatever I’m working on, I never want us to lose sight of why our services exist in the first place – to ensure people are listened to, have choices and are supported to live the lives they choose.
